In 1994, Jagdish Lakhiani, a successful import merchant in Accra, decided to diversify his trading business by venturing into plastics manufacturing. This led to the purchase of a dying plastic gallons manufacturing company at the North Industrial Area in Accra Ghana. This is how Blow Plast Industries Limited, Blow Group’s plastics manufacturing company was established. Coincidentally demand for consumer plastics in Ghana had increased astronomically propelled by the modern Ghanaian’s need for a convenient lifestyle. Plastic carrier bags, sachet water production and other household plastics products were fast becoming a necessity of which Blow Plast took a center-stage in producing. The company grew in leaps and bounds.
Shortly after, Blow Group of Companies diversified again into the production of Industrial Sacs which led to the establishment of the company’s industrial enclave in Tema, and precipitated the company’s transition into a full-fledged manufacturing business. Five manufacturing plants were established in the Tema Industrial Enclave, including Blow Plast’s PET Manufacturing plant which provided PET Preforms for bottling companies in Ghana’s beverage manufacturing industry.
Under the visionary Leadership of the Directors- Dhiraj and Manoj Lakhiani, Blow Group of Companies introduced the company’s food and beverages company Blow Chem Industries Limited in October, 2011. Under this company falls BGC’s biggest consumer brand, Bel Aqua Mineral Water and Bel Beverages.
Bel Aqua was established on October 1, 2011 to mop up the excess supply of Preforms from Blow Plast’s PET manufacturing plant. However, the success of the brand exceeded expectations, and grew to become a market leader in five years; a feat achieved through innovation, superior Purity Levels, and manufacturing standard.
The Bel Aqua brand, brought Blow Chem Industries Limited so much equity, that it birthed Bel Beverages- the Company’s beverage manufacturing business. Bel Beverages is the latest successful addition to Blow Group of Companies which is growing in leaps and bounds. Boasting of over 18 Variants in PET and Can, the division has a beverage for every occasion. It recently launched into the Francophone West Africa Market with presence in Togo, Benin and Ivory Coast.
